Investigative SearchingIntroduce your students to the exciting and critically important world of online investigation. Before any digital work can be cited, important information must be found and weighed. Tracking down evidence about the author, publisher, date and other evidence can result in important discoveries about credibility and determine whether an information source should be used at all. Two identical sections are available.

Course Requirements: Successful completion of the course depends on participating in online (asynchronous) discussions, reading assigned articles, using interactive tutorials and games and taking course quizzes. All work needs to be completed by the last day of the course for CPDU's to be awarded. This course is designed to be completed in 5 hours at the computer. The course will remain open for several weeks following the last official day of class to allow access to activities and discussion forums.

Technical Requirements: PC or Mac with high-speed access to the Internet is best. If you are working from school, be advised that some links may be blocked by school filters--especially in the case of Website Investigation activities. Courses may contain Flash video and movies--downloading the most current versions of the free Flash Player and your Browser (Firefox is preferred) is recommended.
